Role purpose
To represent the company and deliver expansion in Africa (and agreed other markets) for the brand portfolio by market assessment, finding and identifying new business opportunities whilst implementing the group strategy. Developing and forging strong partnerships with new customers & proposing ideal entry business models such as join venture, sub franchise, sub distributors etc. Create and implement entry to market plans connecting Brands, channels, functions and the territories.
This role involves 40% travelling time across the different territories where the company’s offices are located & assessing new markets.
The key duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- Provide support, insights and proactive advice to CSO, Leadership Team, Commercial Teams and the Board.
- Develop a growth strategy by channel for the Group’s brands, outlining financial gain and customer acquisition.
- Scout the agreed countries to understand existing opportunities and challenges.
- Identify in-country Retail opportunities, real estate analysis, prospective clients, strategic partners, and other opportunities.
- Build long-term relationships with prospective clients, strategic partners, and other stakeholders.
- Arrange market visits & business meetings with prospective clients, strategic partners, and other stakeholders.
- Promote the company’s brand products/services addressing and understanding clients’ needs.
- Creation and maintenance of a database outlining duty & supply chain costs, taxes, general operating costs, rent rates, competitor activity & relevant demographic data etc.
- Understand & reflect the cultural way of doing business across the markets.
- Attend relevant trade shows, conferences, meetings, and industry events.
- Working with the Brands & Commercial teams, develop quotes and proposals for clients, feasibility models for stores and business model propositions.
- Work alongside key stakeholders to agree & develop goals & growth ensuring they are met.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience
- Experience in sales, retail and marketing preferably in the Sport, fashion or FMCG sectors.
- Proven sales track record of driving business growth and competitive differentiation across various distribution channels through planning and transformation at senior management/executive level
- Ideally experience of living and working overseas in Africa, particularly in Northern Africa or Sub Sahara demonstrating cross-cultural skills.
- Be a strategic leader with the ability to build, motivate, inspire, and work with the key stakeholders to achieve agreed goals and targets.
- Have demonstrated collaboration and a track record of successful presenting, reporting and engagement to C-suite level & Heads of Departments
- Possess a high degree of work ethic, commercial acumen, and professional transparency.
- Be highly organised, analytical, results-oriented, resilient, decisive, dedicated, agile and audacious.
- Solid IT skills and knowledge of necessary software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other statistical analysis software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education to degree level. Bachelor or MBA and possess first class oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal, relationship building and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English whilst French and Arabic is a preference.
