Role purpose

The role holder will be responsible for creating and delivering people practices which develop – and maintain – positive working relationships between the company and its people. Working closely with unions and employee representatives, the role holder must ensure that people practices are fair and transparent.

The key duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • Develop credible relationships with key stakeholders to ensure timely and robust ER activity
  • Create and implement people policies
  • Use data to provide insight as to current health of ER, identify improvement areas and feedback to stakeholders to agree clear plans
  • Work closely with the people leaders to build manager toolkits; letter template and guidance for managing ER cases such as grievances, absence, disciplinaries
  • Ensure the effective case management of live ER cases, provide practical and commercial advice on complex cases
  • Build and develop a culture of ER ownership through our line managers and front-line managers.
  • Provide leadership on effective change management when embedding new policies, processes or supporting wider change programmes
  • Provides guidance and insight develop a holistic Employee Forum framework
  • Manage the relationship between the company and unions or employee bodies

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience

  • Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations or related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Solid working knowledge of the principles and practices of employee and labor relations.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and executing programs that measurably impact positive employee relations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly excel, word, and powerpoint.
  • Solid persuasiveness, influencing and negotiating skills. Particularly in conflict management and resolution.
