Marketing Manager – African Markets

Hudson Group is an international retailer and distributor primarily involved in the sport and fashion wear sectors. The Group’s head office is in Malta but is also present through offices in Italy, Cyprus, Morocco, Nigeria and Algeria.  

Though Hudson Holdings was founded in 2006, the Group’s roots reach as far back as 1987 when the first pair of NIKE was sold in Malta. 

Role purpose 

As the Marketing Manager for African Markets at Hudson, reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), you will spearhead the development and execution of impactful marketing activation strategies tailored to the unique dynamics of Morocco, Algeria, and Nigeria. Your role involves leveraging a deep understanding of local markets to drive business growth, leading cross-functional teams, and aligning comprehensive regional strategies with overall business goals. From localizing the Group Marketing Calendar to managing budgets and ensuring consistent brand representation, you will play a pivotal role in elevating the brand’s presence in the region and directly contributing to the vision for strategic marketing excellence. 

The key duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows: 

  • Lead the development and execution of marketing activation strategies tailored to the African Markets.  
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of local markets to develop and implement effective regional/local marketing plans. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth in the region. 
  • Develop and implement comprehensive regional marketing strategies aligned with overall business goals and objectives. 
  • Lead the localization and budgeting process for the Group Marketing Calendar in the African Markets. 
  • Ensure flawless information flow, asset sharing, and communications with central teams for cohesive marketing efforts. 
  • Support and lead local marketing teams, ensuring an end-to-end brand activation process and maintaining high marketing standards. 
  • Manage the regional marketing budget effectively, ensuring optimal resource allocation for maximum impact. 
  • Provide regular budget updates and data-driven recommendations for adjustments to enhance efficiency. 
  • Ensure consistent representation of the brand across all marketing materials and channels within the African Markets. 
  • Collaborate with the central marketing team to adapt global messaging to resonate with the local audience. 
  • Analyse local market trends and competition, providing regular reports and insights to inform strategic decision-making. 

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field. 
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Marketing Manager with a focus on African Markets. 
  • Experience in marketing planning and budget management as well as activations and G2M execution 
  • Online and offline marketing experience 
  • In-depth knowledge of local market dynamics and cultural nuances. 
  • Strong leadership and team management skills. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. 
  • Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach. 
  • Fluency in English.
