Hudson Group is an international retailer and distributor primarily involved in the sports and fashion wear sectors. The Group’s head office is in Malta, but it is also present through offices in Italy, Cyprus, Morocco, Nigeria,, and Algeria.

Though Hudson Holdings was founded in 2006, the Group’s roots reach as far back as 1987 when the first pair of NIKE was sold in Malta.

Role purpose

The role holder is responsible for performing day-to-day accounts payable activities, maintaining accounting records, and performing other related duties in the Finance Department.

The key duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • Ensure internal orders are approved according to the company approval matrix and aligned with the invoices.
  • Post and verify details of invoices and supplier statements of account.
  • Reconcile visa statements and ensure all supporting documents are held on file.
  • Maintain general ledgers, including preparing accounts analyses and accrual journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, statements, and records, and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Compute and record service charges, rentals, and similar items.
  • Liaise with auditors concerning accounts payable queries.
  • Issue creditors’ lists and statements.
  • Perform standard office procedures, including processing mail and e-mails, answering supplier phone calls, printing, scanning, and filing.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and accounting software
  • Ability to understand complex oral and written instructions and technical or legal terminology
  • Organised and methodical in all work performed
  • Must be able to perform large amounts of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy.
