Accounts Clerk (Payable)

Role purpose:  Apply principles of accounting to analyse and process financial documentation and assist in ensuring efficiency and control in all accounting procedures, with main focus on accounts payable duties.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable – handling of supplier invoices, chasing for appropriate approval from the respective line manager and review of the Aged Creditors listing – to ensure all unallocated entries are updated, any older balances are investigated and brought to the attention of the Finance Manager for timely settlement of amounts owed to suppliers.
  • Supplier statement reconciliations to ensure that the balances due to suppliers shown on the accounting system are complete and accurately reported.
  • Treasury – initiation of supplier payments as per monthly timetable to also include payment postings, remittances to suppliers and payment allocation within the accounting system.
  • Bank Reconciliations – to manage the monthly reconciliation process for the assigned group companies; highlighting unposted transactions items and ensuring such postings are updated in the following month.
  • Ownership of end of month nominal journals for entities within your remit; focusing on the release of prepayments; posting of accruals, provisions, asset register review and depreciation journal and to ensure the accounts are ready for review by Finance Manager within the agreed timelines.
  • To support the Audit deliverables process (Interim/ End of Year) in respect of your assigned entities to include nominal reports, reconciliations, roll over of balances for financial statements.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience

  • Minimum entry education to ‘A’ level / AAT Qualified with a willingness to continue studies within Accounting.
  • A good communicator and team player
  • Can work to monthly deadlines and follow a reporting timetable.
  • Experience of using Microsoft applications to include Excel and Outlook; exposure to Microsoft Dynamics would be advantageous.
