Head of Finance Operations

Role purpose: Reporting to the Finance Director, the Head of Finance Operations will be responsible for the accounting function across the Group.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

Responsible for Financial Reporting & Accounting Principles:

  • Compilation of Financial Statements;
  • Advisory on Accounting issues.
  • Performing ad hoc financial analyses / reported as requested

Lead the Accounting function including:

  • General Ledger Accounting;
  • Asset Accounting;
  • Accounts Receivables;
  • Accounts Payables;
  • Reconciliation of Bank accounts/loans;
  • Inventory Accounting;
  • Month end processes;

Manage Treasury and Cash:

  • Payments to Suppliers;
  • Intercompany balances;
  • Banking relationships;
  • Cashflow Forecasting;
  • Liquidity, cash management and funding;
  • Guarantees and LC’s.

Governance of Financial Systems:

  • Finance IT needs;
  • Management of new business impact on Finance Operations.

Responsible for Tax:

  • Tax Compliance and Returns;
  • Tax and Reporting.

Manage the Auditing process:

  • Auditor relationships;
  • Audit Reviews;
  • Draw up and agree Audit Plans.
  • Ensure effective implementation of Cash Collection and Credit Vetting processes:
  • Cash Collection;
  • Customer Onboarding Process and Credit Vetting.

Others:

  • Standardisation of relevant Accounting policies within the group;
  • Responsible to ensure Inventory stock takes.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Constant evaluation and improvement of internal policies and controls

Core competencies, knowledge and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Must have had at least 5 years of working experience in a leading accounting position within a fast-paced and dynamic position and have had significant, successful, and proven experience leading a financial accounting department
  • MS D365 knowledge.
  • Ideally have experience within the retail industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and ability to influence key members of the organisation;
  • Ability to mentor, motivate and inspire the assigned direct reports and junior staff members
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills;
  • Financial accounting business acumen
  • Competent financial modelling skills in Excel
  • Fluency in English and French whilst Arabic is a plus
