Head of Finance – Morocco & Africa Region

Role purpose: Reporting directly to the Group CFO and dotted line to Africa Region General Manager, the Head of Finance is accountable for accurate reporting of financial results and managing of the company’s financial affairs in Morocco and the Africa Region.

Key accountabilities:

As part of the Africa leadership team, the Head of Finance is responsible for the financial management of the Morocco and Africa operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the financial reporting for the Morocco and Africa operations. This includes monthly financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, 3 years financial plans and statutory financial reporting
  • Providing sound financial support and insights to enable the local leadership teams to make critical business decisions
  • Presenting financial results and insights to the Africa Region GM, Group CEO and Group CFO
  • Playing a key role in the formulation of the business’s strategy
  • Managing and overseeing the taxation affairs of the organisation and liaising with external tax experts
  • Managing and overseeing the cash flow of the Africa and Morocco operations
  • Managing external auditor relationships and ensuring the organisation is compliant with accounting standards
  • Managing and overseeing the company’s local banking and borrowing arrangements
  • Managing and overseeing the company’s financial systems
  • Training, mentoring and developing local staff
  • Ensuring the business has a solid risk framework in place
  • Overseeing commercial decision making, margin analysis, pricing analysis, etc,
  • Advising and implementing best practice methods to increase revenue and reduce costs
  • Advising on market changes and providing strategic financial recommendations
  • Manage and track budget and accounting information including billing, collections, and tax information
  • Overseeing legal aspects with external lawyer
  • Supporting local team regarding store opening
  • Supporting logistic manager regarding supply chain aspects
  • Responsible of Support functions such as HR and IT
  • Improving and Implementing internal control processes
  • Handling all administrative tasks of the head-office

Requirements for role

Key requirements for this role include:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a senior financial managerial position with a proven record of success
  • Fluent in French, Arabic and English
  • Ideally have experience within the retail industry
  • Strategic thinking, planning and creative problem-solving skills
  • Results oriented and metrics driven
  • Ability to lead by example and demonstrate a strong sense of integrity, ethics and dependability
  • Ability to mentor, motivate and inspire the assigned direct reports and Junior staff members
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA
