Finance Manager – Europe (Italy & Spain)

Role purpose: Responsible for managing and executing accounting principles, analyse, process financial documentation and prepare financial reports as requested by management.

Key accountability and decision ownership

Reporting:

  • To issue timely, complete and accurate financial statements to include Consolidated Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cashflow statement
  • Ensure results comply with International financial reporting standards (IFRS)
  • To ensure closure of sub-ledgers, review of ageing analysis on debtors & creditors
  • Review of trial balance to ensure postings are consistent and aligned to group policies and standards
  • To include:
    • review of Journal Entries/ update prepayments and accrual accounts
    • Fixed asset module maintenance
    • Quarterly balance sheet ‘flux’ review to ensure balance sheet movements are fully understood
  • Ensure all bank accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and presented to HOF for approval
  • Preparation of the annual Financial statements for the legal entity in preparation for audit closure

Compliance:

  • Document and implement a comprehensive set of authority and approval limits
  • Point of contact on audit deliverable and supporting the external audit process
  • VAT reconciliations and tax submissions adhered too

Other key Tasks:

  • Cash flow forecasting (support FP&A team)
  • Support the budget process and work with the FP&A team

Special Projects:

  • Support the implementation of a new Group wide ERP for the Italian business
  • Support the roll out of a new purchase order and travel system for the Italian business
  • Updating B.I Finance with the monthly TB and reconcile

Core competencies, knowledge and experience

  • A part qualified (in the last year of studies) or recently qualified accountant
  • Ideally have some related work experience (Industry experience not essential)
  • Ability to mentor, motivate and inspire the assigned indirect reports
  • Financial accounting business acumen
  • Competent financial modelling skills in Excel
  • Italian Language skills would be considered an asset as this role would require some travelling (every quarter)

  • Month end closure in line with monthly timetable
  • Consistency and accuracy of financial statements
