Basketball, culture, and legendary sneakers came together on February 22nd at Morocco Mall, Casablanca, with the hosting of CASASLAM Basketball 3v3 – a high-energy tournament held in honour of 40 years of the iconic Air Jordan 1.
A Tournament Fit for a Legend
Six teams, each featuring four pro Moroccan basketball players, competed in this FIBA-recognized event, showcasing skill, speed, and the passion that defines streetball. The energy remained high, with electrifying halftime challenges, including a dunk contest, a shoot-until-you-fail showdown, and an impressive dance performance, all powered by a live DJ set.
The Legacy of the Jordan 1
First released in 1985, the Air Jordan 1 revolutionized basketball footwear, breaking NBA uniform rules and setting the stage for sneaker culture as it is known today. Designed for Michael Jordan, the AJ1 quickly became more than just a basketball shoe – it became a symbol of style, performance, and rebellion. Four decades later, it remains one of the most beloved and influential sneakers of all time.
