Hudson Holdings appoints new Chairman and CEO
Hudson Holdings is pleased to announce the appointment of Alfie Borg as Chairman and Chris Muscat as new Chief Executive Officer of the Group.
Founder of Hudson Holdings Group, Alfie Borg, was instrumental in introducing NIKE to Malta in 1987, subsequently increasing the brand’s distribution to various parts of Africa, as well as securing the representation of major brands both in Southern Europe and Africa. Brands and store concepts managed by Hudson include NIKE, Urban Jungle, House of Sport, Go Sport, Shoe Shack, Ted Baker, Kiabi, United Colors of Benetton, River Island, Mary Paz, Alcott, Converse, Vans, Tommy Hilfiger, New Look, and Timberland. Alfie will assume the role of Chairman after having served as CEO since inception of the Group.
Chris joined Hudson Holdings in 2006, as a director and shareholder. He has been actively involved in establishing and growing the various business ventures across the organization that have significantly expanded Hudson Holdings Group until his appointment as Chief Operations Officer in February 2018. Before joining Hudson he served as Senior Manager at Deloitte gaining a vast experience in finance, business and consultancy.
“I have worked closely with Chris for many years now and I strongly believe that his invaluable knowledge and experience within the Group will make for a smooth transition into the role. Chris has been my right-hand man for the past 13 years. During this time, he accompanied me in every strategic meeting and decision, and most importantly shares my ethics and long-term vision for the company. He has great technical skills, understands well the dynamics of our business and is well respected internally as well as with our external stakeholders, be they customers, banks and authorities.” Said Mr Borg.
Over the last few years the Hudson Group has experienced exponential growth both in Malta and in Southern Europe and Africa by introducing new brands within these territories as well as strengthening Malta as a logistics hub for Africa. The latest wins have been the extension in 2018 of its contract to represent super brand NIKE in 30 African countries until 2023 and the agreement to extend its warehouse facilities through which it serves the Africa marketplace.
