Urban Jungle sends a global message of unity and inclusion through Basketball

Street culture and passion for basketball is in Urban Jungle’s DNA. Over the past year the brand teamed up with leading artists to send a positive message while infiltrating local communities. The project included the restoration and re-design of basketball courts around Africa and Italy – where Urban Jungle is present.

ITALY

Urban Jungle Italy, in collaboration with Charlatans Basketball revamped an abandoned basketball court in Bagnoli, Naples. This activity formed part of ‘A Basket for a Friend’ and ‘Basket 4 People’, two initiatives which aim to teach children the value of sport without discrimination towards sex, age, ability, race or social class. Urban Jungle not only ignited life back into this basketball court, but also donated uniforms and basketballs to support this cause. The activity also paid tribute to Lakers Legend – Kobe Bryant. Creating a positive impact within the community it operates in has always been Urban Jungle’s mission, particularly nowadays as it strives to accompany future generations wherever they go in life.

MOROCCO

A basketball court renovation by Women for Women.

This basketball court, managed by the AL KHAYR association, is situated in the underprivileged area of Sidi Moumen and offers kids a safe place for them to practice sports.

On March 8th as part of International Women’s Day, UJ Morocco helped to restore and paint this basketball court with the help of women artists, to offer young girls a brand-new basketball court. The artist Hanaa Mricha participated in this collective celebration of creativity.

ALGERIA

Our Urban Jungle family in Algeria (through Premium Brands) spent a grueling 10 days to redevelop this old Basket Court in Kouba, Algiers. A 1400m2 wall art is the work of Algerian street artist sneakhotep.one, which carries Urban Jungle’s iconic colours and adds a local touch with the inclusion of Arabic calligraphy.
 
The court is home to the local Woman’s Basket Team and is a gift to the local community at large. The redevelopment work is part of Urban Jungle’s Environmental and Sustainability projects, which seek to improve sport facilities within the communities it is present in.
