Hudson Cyprus is proud to share it will be suppoting numerous Migrant and Refugee women through a sewing programme.
The Tailoring & Sewing Skills Program, focuses on empowering migrant and refugee women, particularly those who are survivors of or at risk of gender-based violence (GBV). By providing essential resources and equipment, including sewing and tailoring machines, Hudson Cyprus is helping participants build practical skills, strengthen their self-reliance, and enhance their confidence and integration prospects.
Between 23 September and 14 October 2025, a series of four sewing sessions were held every Tuesday, bringing together 16 women from 12 different countries – the Philippines, Iran, Somalia, Nepal, India, Sudan, Palestine, Cameroon, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Sierra Leone.
Over the past month, the sessions have created a welcoming and creative environment where women can learn, connect, and grow. Each week, participants have shown remarkable enthusiasm, commitment, and a genuine passion for developing new skills. The workshops began with hands-on instruction in sewing machine use, threading, maintenance, and safety, before moving into a series of creative projects, such as hairbands, scrunchies, and beanie hats.
Several women have even chosen to stay beyond the scheduled time to continue perfecting their projects – a clear reflection of their dedication and enjoyment. Through this process, participants have made tangible progress not only in their sewing abilities but also in their confidence, communication, and sense of belonging.
This initiative exemplifies Hudson Cyprus’s commitment to social empowerment and inclusion, using creativity as a bridge toward independence, confidence, and community connection.
